
Cash Rebates for Solar Technologies
The Renewable Energy Tax Credit within the Wall Street Bailout which offers 30% tax credit off solar systems has been extended, the new provisions are:
- 8-year extension of investment tax credits (ITC) for residential and applications
- No limit - Removal of the $2,000 cap on residential applications.
- Repeal of the limitation on utilities from claiming ITC
- Allowability for credits to be used to offset alternative minimum tax.

Federal Incentives
Energy Policy Act of 2005
The Energy Policy Act of 2005 provides tax credits to offset the costs of purchasing solar systems for your home or business. Specific incentives include:
- A 30% Tax Credit for commercial PV or solar hot water systems with no maximum
- A 30% Tax Credit for residential PV or solar water systems with a $2,000 maximum
- Up to a $500 Tax Credit for qualifying energy efficiency upgrades in existing homes
- Up to a $2,000 Tax Credit to builders for each new construction home that achieves a 50% reduction in energy use compared with the national building energy code
- A $1.80 per sq. foot Tax Deduction for commercial building efficiency improvements that achieve a 50% improvement
Florida State Incentives
The 2006 Florida Energy Act provides additional rebates & tax incentives to help reduce the costs of purchasing solar systems for your home/business. Specific incentives include:
- $500 Rebate for installing a residential solar water heater
- $100 Rebate for installing a solar pool heater
- $4/Watt - up to $20,000 for installing a solar electric system on your home
- $4/Watt - up to $100,000 for installing a solar electric system on business or public facility
- $15/BTU/Day up to $5,000 for installing a solar hot water system on your business
