Renewable Energy Tax Credit
The Renewable Energy Tax Credit provides tax credits to offset the costs of purchasing solar systems for your home or business. Specific incentives include:
- A 30% tax credit for photovoltaic (solar electric) and solar thermal systems (solar water heating), concentrated solar power and solar hybrid lighting.
A Tax Credit is not to be confused with a tax deduction, credits are a direct credit against taxes owed. If you overpaid taxes through withholding, it would increase your rebate. If you underpaid taxes for the tax year, it would directly reduce the amount you owe.

» FPL Cash Rebates
As part of a five-year pilot program authorized by the Florida Public Service Commission, this rebate is available to all existing FPL residential customers in existing dwellings. The rebates are not available for new construction or PV systems that are already installed. Applicants must be current account holders of the premise where the solar photovoltaic system is being installed.
The Residential PV rebate is for solar electric panels, mounting hardware, grid-interactive electric inverter(s), optional battery systems, associated cabling, and for systems over 10 kilowatt AC, disconnect devices. This rebate program is only for grid-interactive PV systems with a minimum nameplate rating of 2 kilowatts direct current (DC) and a maximum nameplate rating of 2 megawatts. All components must be tested and listed by a nationally recognized testing and certification laboratory for continuous interactive operation with an electric distribution system in compliance with the applicable codes and standards of IEEE 1547, IEEE 1547.1, and UL 1741. All products installed must be new, not refurbished or previously installed.

- Residential PV System Rebate Amount: $1.50/Watt,
not to exceed $7,500.
- Business PV System Rebate Amount: $1.50/Watt,
not to exceed $37,500.
- $500 Solar water heater rebate. Restrictions apply.
» JEA Jacksonville Electric Authority
The incentive applies only to the installation of a solar water heating system:
- $800 per installation to qualified residential customers.
- 30% of the system's cost for qualified pre-approved commercial systems with $5,000 maximum limit.
» Progress Energy
SunSense Solar Water Heating Program
- $550 rebate from Progress Energy
- Up to $60 in EnergyWise Home program credits every year
- Federal tax credits of up to 30 percent
- Save up to 85 percent on your water heating costs. More
SunSense PV Program NOTE: Progress Energy Florida is no longer accepting applications for the 2012 rebates. All funds for 2012 have been committed.
Progress Energy will help reduce the cost of installation with a rebate of $2 per watt installed (for up to 10 kW). The SunSense Solar PV program:
- Provides rebates of up to $20,000 from Progress Energy
- Reduces your electric bills
- Adds to the value of your home
- Provides the satisfaction of generating clean, renewable energy
