KOA Solar Pool Heater Installations
 In 2010, KOA launched Kamp Green, which recognizes the voluntary efforts by KOA campground owners to incorporate more eco-friendly practices into their day-to-day operations. Some of the changes made at these KOAs include installing on-demand hot water heaters, using water conservation practices, using eco-friendly cleaning products, creating resource-friendly landscaping and switching to more efficient lighting. In the more recent months some of the KOAs have also installed solar panels and windmills to capture and store renewable energy.
By harnessing the power of the sun KOA offers heated swimming pools year-round while. reducing energy costs and reducing their carbon footprint. Solar Direct has installed solar pool heating systems on three locations this year: Okeechobee Park, Sugarloaf Key and St. Petersburg Florida.
KOA Okeechobee Park
A large solar pool heating system was installed for each of the 2 pools, the family pool and the adult-only pool at the Okeechobee Park.

This system consists of 39 (4 ft x 12 ft) Vortex™ solar pool panels which equal to approximately 94% of the pool surface area. The panels are mounted on the single story south facing asphalt modified roof. The heating system is connected to the pool circulating equipment with a motorized valve and booster pump controlled by an automatic solar controller. |

Fairway Adult Pool

This system consists of 35 (4 ft x 12 ft) Vortex™ panels which is equal to approximately 70% of the pool surface area. The panels are mounted on the second story south facing asphalt modified roof. The heating system is connected to the pool circulating equipment with a motorized valve and booster pump controlled by an automatic solar controller. |

 Spa Hot Tub
In addition, an AquacalTM SQ121R heat pump was installed for the Spa. Aquacal is a premium, long lasting heat pump with a 7 year factory limited warranty, All PVC, electrical parts and installation labor are warranted for one year. All materials are the finest available to insure years of cost effective performance and reliability.

KOA St. Petersburg, Florida
The swimming pool and hot tub at the St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA is now being heated with solar power and allows for year-round swimming without water heating costs.
