Solcrafte ICS Passive Solar Water Heater
Due to its perfect combination of a solar collector with a hot water storage
tank, Solcrafte® is more efficient than traditional thermosiphon systems.
Solcrafte® is a compact system with an integrated hot water tank that is
suitable for the most diverse applications. Whether you own a family home, a
villa, a holiday resort or a weekend retreat, Solcrafte® is the ideal
solution.
Solcrafte Benefits
- Save up to 80% of water heating costs
- Save up to 30% of total energy
costs
- Best
price/performance ratio
- Hot
water 365 days a year
Replace your current power source entirely
Unlike traditional thermosyphon systems, the water heater is integrated directly into the collector, which means that the sun's energy is transferred directly to the water heater. This is not only fast, but also ensures that the water is not polluted.
Significant cost savings
Reduce energy costs for producing domestic hot water of up to 80%. The sun is an unlimited energy source. Making use of it is good for the environment, conserves resources and is kind to your wallet. The new hot water system Solcrafte® is able to exploit this free solar energy better than all other comparable models thanks to its boosted efficiency. The simple, compact and efficient design of the Solcrafte® ICS system offers
an extremely high price/performance ratio. Add to this its durability, and you
get a cost-effective system which will provide free hot water to your household
for years.
Hot water 365 days a year
When the sun is shining, every traditional thermosyphon system should work well. The new Solcrafte® system works more efficient every day of the year and can be installed as a stand-alone unit, in combination with external energy sources or connected to other units in series.
Easy installation; lower costs
Solcrafte ICS systems are easy to
install. The solar collector and hot water storage tank are incorporated into a
single, compact casing. Installation is as easy as plumbing the cold water feed
and hot water return into your existing domestic hot water system. This is truly
a “plug & play” system. Solcrafte® can be installed on flat or pitched roofs.
More efficient than thermosiphon systems
When compared to
traditional thermosiphon systems, the Solcrafte ICS is superiorin collecting
heat from the sun, and transferring it to your household water. And in areas
where direct sunlight is not always available, the water tank backup will supply
hot water for your household.
Sleek design
The Solcrafte ICS system offers a sleek
profile that follows the contour of your roof. Optimized visual appeal is
achieved through blending of form, function and material. Traditional
thermosiphon systems are bulky and do not blend in well with their surroundings.

Important Note: Two factors that are important for use of these units are water quality and
potential freezing. Water quality is an important factor for these units
as they are made of 444 stainless steel.
Specifications for Water Quality:
Solcrafte should
not be installed if the water quality does not conform to the specified limit
values. If you should still choose to install Solcrafte, this will void your
warranty.

Freeze Protection:
Solcrafte may be installed in
areas within the United States that experience mild winter climates. Because of
the huge mass of water inside the Solcrafte, the System does not freeze.
However, the Solcrafte must be drained if the temperatures have ever fallen
to:
10°F for 6 consecutive hours, or
20°F
for 18 consecutive hours
When these environmental conditions are met or
exceed the Solcrafte must be manually drained in accordance with the
installation instruction. Failure to do so will void the warranty coverage.
How does it work?
Water is heated directly in the solar collector and held in the accumulator (patented single-circuit system). This allows a substantially greater energy saving and can reduce energy costs for producing domestic hot water by up to 80%. By continuously tapping fresh warm water, an optimal hygienic standard can be guaranteed too.

Flush mounting the collector to a pitched
roof
Depending on the local installation codes, the flush-mount
hardware that comes packaged in the Solcrafte box might require additional parts
to comply with these codes. If your state requires that you raise the collector
above the roof on some sort of substructure you will need the following parts to
finish securing the collector to the roof (parts not included):
- Unistrut rails for the collector to rest on the
roof.
- 5/16" bolts with channel nuts &
springs to secure the bottom of the Solcrafte 'L' brackets into their
unistrut rails. 1 each per connection needed (typically need 6 connection
points)
