What effect will this have on city water flow?
None whatsoever. The Metlund D'MAND System simultaneously draws hot water from the water heater into the hot water line, while transferring the cold water from the cold water line back into the water heater. Outside city water pressure is unable to enter into a closed looped system unless a fixture is opened. The flow will travel to the point of least resistance, which is into the water heater.

Does the Metlund D'MAND System heat the water?
No. It is a pumping system that delivers hot water from your existing water heater to the furthest fixture in your home. The Metlund D'MAND System works in conjunction with your current heating system moving the hot water quickly to the furthest fixture without the loss or waste of water.

Do I need to have an electric outlet installed for the Metlund D'MAND System?
A standard 110/115V outlet is required to power the Metlund D'MAND System.

Does the Metlund D'MAND System require special wiring?
No. The Metlund System operates off any standard 110/115V outlet. The S-50, S-70T, Series come pre-wired for your convenience. The "S-02" needs to have the Thermo Sensor wire attached to the pipe with the strap provided. Low voltage 12-volt wiring is required for additional push buttons.

How much will the Metlund D'MAND System increase my electrical bill?
The cost to operate any Metlund System is less than $1.00 per year.

How much pressure will be added to my water line?
There is no added pressure to your water lines. As hot water is being drawn to the farthest fixture, the cold water is returned to the water heater. There is a re-circulating loop formed which creates no additional pressure.

Will it work on all water heating systems?
Yes. The Metlund D'MAND System will work with oil, propane, solar, gas, electric and tankless water heaters.

How long and how much will it cost me to have a plumber install the Metlund D'MAND System?
Most plumbers can install Model #''s S-70T in less than one hour. Model # S-02 may take slightly longer. If electrical work is needed, additional time must be included. The cost will vary based on the hourly rate of the tradespeople.

Is major plumbing involved?
No. To install the Metlund System you simply connect your hot and cold water supplies together with the Metlund D'MAND System at the farthest fixture from the water heater. Once you remove the angle stops, you simply attach the copper T compression fittings which are supplied in the kit.

Do I need to run a return line back to the water heater?
No. The Metlund D'MAND System S-Series is designed to operate without additional plumbing.

Should I put it on a timer?
No. The Metlund D'MAND System allows hot water to arrive in seconds on demand although several homes have used timers in cold weather climates to prevent pipes from freezing. Contact your supplier for further information on this subject.

How does the Metlund D’MAND System save energy?
By operating only on demand. The Metlund D'MAND System allows you to reduce the water heater temperature setting because the system reduces heat loss in the delivery of hot water to the fixtures. Returning ambient temperature water back to the water heater and not allowing outside cold water to enter prevents your water heater from cycling as often.

How does it save water? How much water is saved?
By allowing hot water to arrive before turning on a faucet, it reduces the loss of water down the drain, which, in turn, saves water, sewage, and energy costs. Average savings is 20 gallons of water per day per two-person family.

What affect will it have on my septic system?
It will reduce the amount of water going into the septic system.

How will it affect my own well water?
It will reduce the amount of water being pumped from the well. It will also reduce the electrical costs of the well pump.

How noisy is the Metlund D'MAND System?
Extremely quiet. During operation, you can barely hear the low hum of the motor.
